Entering Third and Fourth Grades
Explorers
The Explorers division offers big fun for growing campers! Explorers enjoy all the activities on The Ranch, along with choosing areas of enthusiasm during Club and X-Factor periods. Options include athletic clinics, crafts, hobbies, adventure specialties, and artist-in-residence workshops.
Explorers get the chance to experience the commitment and camaraderie of teamwork through participation in intramurals. Teams face off on rinks, courts, fields, or diamonds to exercise their newly honed accomplishments and to practice cooperation and sportsmanship.
A highlight of the Explorers’ day is the X-Factor, a choice period which includes athletics, STEM options, and traditional camp activities. Professional coaches in baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball run instructional, skills-oriented clinics for those who pick an additional athletics activity. These highly credentialed instructors hail from professional organizations. STEM options during X-Factor are equally alluring, especially robotic and coding.
Each grade also participates in ‘Coleman After Dark,’ a late night on The Ranch.

Michele Mann
At Coleman Country Since 2016
Michele Mann, co-supervisor of the Explorers, says, “Camp has become a second home to us … and the Coleman Country family has become a second family to me and my four kids.” At camp, Michele’s talents began to soar as a head counselor in the Pioneer division. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s in literary education studies. Michele has been teaching on both the elementary and middle school levels since 2003 in the New York City public school and in Westbury. Michele’s own children, all Coleman Country campers, run the gamut from our littlest Pioneers through all divisions; and her kids are unanimous: “There’s no place in the world my family would rather be than at Coleman Country.”
