Each summer, a recognized talent visits with campers, coaches skills, and partakes in a press conference, with campers asking the questions. Former guests have included Mets pitcher Jacob DeGrom, pro soccer star Abby Wambach, Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner, Mets Third Baseman David Wright, and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas.

Mets’ ace pitcher Jacob DeGrom inspired campers — with his pitching workshop, individual high-fives, and sincere answers to campers’ personal questions during their “press conference,” such as, “What kind of shampoo do you use?!” The All-Star player, who has been Rookie of the Year, talked to campers about about how he is living proof that Dream Big works and that goals are achievable.
Gabby Douglas
Campers and staff flipped when Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas brought her shiny medal to the Grand Playhouse. The gymnast also performed a short program and invited campers to strut their stuff. She talked about determination and perseverance, practice and mastery – and Gabby demonstrated first-hand, observable proof of our slogan, “You Bet I Can!”
